It has historically been driven by colonialism, expansionism, and globalization, and continues to shape global power structures and relationships today. **

The author explains that imperialist and antidemocratic attributes are characterized by the desire for power and control over other nations, often through force or coercion, and a lack of respect for the rights and freedoms of the people within those nations. On the other hand, anti-imperialist and democratic attributes are characterized by a commitment to respecting the sovereignty and self-determination of other nations, and a belief in the importance of democratic principles, such as equality, freedom of speech, and the rule of law. The author emphasizes that these attributes are not mutually exclusive, and that a nation can exhibit both imperialist and antidemocratic tendencies, as well as anti-imperialist and democratic tendencies, depending on its actions and policies. **

The imperialist policies of the great powers were a significant cause of World War I. The competition for colonies and resources led to increased tensions and rivalries among the major powers, particularly in Europe. This competition fueled the arms race and alliances, creating a volatile environment that ultimately contributed to the outbreak of war. Therefore, it can be argued that the imperialist policies of the great powers were a major contributing factor to the outbreak of World War I. **
