A law is passed through a series of steps in the legislative process. It typically begins with the drafting of a bill, which is then introduced in either the House of Representatives or the Senate. The bill goes through committee hearings, where it is debated, amended, and voted on. If it passes through committee, it is then brought to the full chamber for further debate and a final vote. If the bill is approved by both chambers, it is sent to the President for signature, at which point it becomes law. **
